Alta Journal had a great night in New York City on September 13, receiving six top honors at Folio’s Eddie and Ozzie Awards. Spread across several editorial and design categories, the wins represent the hard work of Alta’s editorial team and its contributors.

Among the winners were Sands Hall in the Essays and Criticism category for “‘The Ways of Fiction Are Devious Indeed,’” an investigation into Wallace Stegner’s extensive borrowing from the life and work of Mary Hallock Foote, and Adam Fisher in the Longform Feature Content category for “The Mushroom Man’s Magic,” about an eccentric artist turned entrepreneur. (The latter piece also won at the Los Angeles Press Club’s Southern California Journalism Awards in June.) Teresa Flores also won in the Single Article: Consumer Lifestyle category for “Ars Poetica.”

The magazine took home top honors for its Fall 2021 issue in the Consumer Culture/Community category, and creative director John Goecke won for the same issue’s cover design. The magazine’s special issue devoted to Joan Didion won for Magazine Section Consumer.
